The Power of Storytelling for Conservation: In Conversation with Born Free’s Will Travers…

Will-Travers-and-Virginia-Mc-Kenna

On 17th December 2021, the Wildlife Blogger Crowd had the incredible opportunity to chat with Will Travers OBE about ‘The Power of Storytelling for Conservation’.

This was a chance for members of our community to put their questions to Will, and hear his thoughts on the impact that storytelling can have for conservation efforts.

Will Travers OBE is Executive President and Co-Founder of Born Free, which he started alongside his parents Bill Travers MBE and Virginia McKenna OBE in 1984. Will is also President of the Species Survival Network and Born Free USA. He helped to create the Great Ape Survival Partnership, is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a member of the IUCN SSC Reintroduction Specialist Group. He was awarded an OBE for services to conservation and animal welfare in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2012. You can watch the full recording here:

I wanted to do something a little special to wrap up such a fantastic year for our community — so a huge thank you to Will for taking the time to share some thoughts (and motivational stories!) on the conservation impact we can all have as storytellers, and for answering some of our questions.
