Hi, Kate on Conservation here. I am a conservationist, and a campaigner for animal rights. As a mum to a daughter and a son, I believe passionately in the education of future generations and am determined that my children will see a future filled with wildlife and wonder.
I’m Education Editor at National Geographic KiDs and formerly a Sub Editor for Discovery Education. In 2017 I became the youngest Trustee of Born Free Foundation.
I have been a follower and supporter of the charity the Born Free Foundation for most of my life, and in 2008 my passion and interests in conservation came to a head when I traveled to South Africa and spent three months volunteering at Shamwari Game Reserve, which is home to the Julie Ward Born Free Centre.
I have more than 10 years of journalism experience, and a 1st Class degree in English Language & Communications with Journalism and Media Cultures, with a year’s study abroad in Australia (yep, it’s a rather long degree title, but one I am most proud of).
I have previously worked for Discovery Communications, Channel 4 Learning, Channel 4 Talent, BBC Blast, Archant, Today Magazines and Cubiqdesign over the last few years, and have volunteered as a blogger, social media officer and volunteer co-ordinator for the wonderful conservation VR pioneers vEcotourism. All views experienced on the site are of course my own, and not directly associated with any of my current or previous work places.
